Kathy L. Batterman  Elementary School

 

Batterman Elementary School is proud to honor Ms. Scott. She is a dedicated and talented fourth grade teacher who has taken a leadership role in the school and community. Ms. Scott recently planned and facilitated a fantastic September 11th remembrance event.   She has been an intricate part of the Batterman staff for a number of years.  Her ability to step up to the plate and work collaborating with her peers has proven to be an asset to our family.  Ms. Scott truly makes our school a wonderful place to work.  She continues to Fly High, and Make a Difference for all our students.

Patrica A. Bendorf  Elementary School

 

Bendorf Elementary owes much of its success to the efforts of our wonderful counselor, Deb Rowe.  With her high levels of enthusiasm, positive attitude, and involvement with students, she has made our school one where misbehavior is minimal and where students feel so safe that they can fully concentrate on achieving to their best.

Roger M. Bryan  Elementary School

 

Tiara Allavi is a fabulous teacher who has taken on leadership role at Roger Bryan. She is the grade level chair, RTI representative and is a member of a variety of other committees. She has taught Kindergarten, Early Childhood Special Education Pre-K and is currently teaching 2nd grade. She is enthusiastic and dedicated and has an open door policy to assist anyone in need. Tiara authentically engages her students with stimulating thought provoking lessons which are differentiated to meet all of her students' needs. Her classroom management is outstanding and the students are not only self-monitoring but self-motivated because of her effective positive, respectful classroom environment.

Marcus J. Christensen Elementary School

 

MJ Christensen ES applauds third grade teacher, Melissa Read!  Mrs. Read provides a highly structured classroom and maintains a safe and orderly learning environment for all students.  She effectively incorporates Kagan Cooperative Learning structures into daily lessons to engage students.  As a member of our Leadership Team, Mrs. Read guides her grade level in analyzing data, planning lessons, and sharing effective strategies to meet the needs of all third grade students.  She extends her assistance to other teachers in the building and partners with parents to keep the home-school connection strong.  We value and appreciate Mrs. Read for all that she does!

Clarabelle H. Decker Elementary School

 

"Technology Queen" is the standard by which Giselle Kyriacou is recognized.  Beyond teaching fourth graders, Mrs. Kyriacou also assists teachers with technology programs, including implementation procedures.  Always in the know, Mrs. Kyriacou responds to technology emergencies with a smile and extra patience.  Instructionally, technology enhances her lessons and iPads are the rage in her classroom.  Mrs. Kyriacou is a pleasure to work with, always positive and eager to help her colleagues.

Pat A. Diskin Elementary School

 

Jennifer Ecklund, Art Specialist at Diskin Elementary School is beginning her eighth year at Diskin since 2006.    With a background in ELA and writing, she routinely works with grade levels to incorporate art and writing into her plans.  

Each year, she participates in our Museum Night with her Diskin students.  She trains them to be docents and they conduct tours throughout the school explaining the different art styles and projects to interested families and friends. 

One piece of trivia about Jennifer...she was a former Diskin student while her mother was a teacher at Diskin.

Harvey Dondero Elementary School

 

Dondero Elementary School proudly recognizes our Librarian Katherine Gostomski. She is a dedicated professional educator that incorporates the Nevada Academic Core Standards in grades K-5 daily to support meaningful learning. Furthermore, Mrs. Gostomski is a school and community leader. She provides parents and students opportunities to explore and find books to read at home during non-instructional hours. Additionally, Mrs. Gostomski serves as a new teacher mentor and master trainer in CHAMP's. Also, she provided the school with a Chrome Book Lab during her prep periods so that classroom teachers can work with their students on a variety of standard based projects. Mrs. Gostomski is absolutely amazing! Her energy and vision is an inspiration to the school community.

Durango High School

 

MJ Park is an outstanding mathematics teacher.  Leading the Durango High School Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus AB, and AP Calculus BC programs, Ms. Park enables students to maximize their college preparation and advanced placement opportunities in a first-class manner.  Students seeking elite instruction with a caring, enthusiastic, and engaging teacher, enroll at Durango eager to be part of Ms. Park’s AP program.  She is a dedicated teacher, volunteering her time after school for tutoring and assistance nearly every day of the week.  Ms. Park is the Key Club Advisor at Durango and she promotes advance placement preparation in the summertime by volunteering her time for math camps on campus for her students.  Ms. Park is commended for her dedication, hard work, and success.  The students, parents, teachers, administration, and Blazer community are truly fortunate to have MJ Park as a member of the Durango High School team.
